IrfanView

I often need to quickly make small edits or size changes to images and rather than open up a fully featured editor such as Photoshop I use the excellent and very fast IrfanView

This excellent free program was first released by Bosnian Irfan Skiljan in 1996,and since then he has constantly improved upon it without succumbing to commercial pressure and amazingly without the files size going much over 1mb!

I won’t list all the formats this program can handle, there are too many and it changes constantly. The ability to quickly view PSD files is a feature I like.

If you need a small, fast image viewer/manipulator then give it a try.

Feedreader

fr4 FeedreaderThis is a great little RSS tool that I use daily. I have feeds from about 150 sites that I used to visit regularly but can now read all the updates from those sites in one place.

It is so simple to use, just look for the RSS logo rsssmall Feedreader on a site or in your address bar and click on it. Feedreader will subscribe to that feed and keep you up to date with any additions to the site.

When you have read all feeds Feedreader sits in your tool tray as a little grey cube which throws up a small pop-up and turns orange when new info arrives.

This is ideal for keeping up to date with lots of news sites with regular updates but also sites that don’t update too often. You never have to visit to see if they have updated as you will get the details in Feedreader.

Highly recommended as a massive time saver and best of all it is free!
