Police too rough on noisy son, parents insist
The parents of a 10-year-old boy who was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a police cruiser for being too noisy intend to file a complaint against Ottawa police today, alleging that at least one officer went too far in the way he treated their son.
Thomasz and Santana Gurzynski say police drew their firearms before entering their Norberry Crescent apartment and scratched the back of their son, Lucasz, while forcing him to sit down for questioning without an adult present.
Germany to Allow Video Surveillance of Private Homes
Changes proposed to the law governing Germany’s federal criminal police operations would allow investigators to use wire taps and surveillance cameras in homes of innocent citizens to keep tabs on terror suspects.
Under the government proposals, federal police would be permitted to install “hidden technical equipment, that is to say bugs or cameras inside or outside apartments … if there is a pressing danger for state security,” interior ministry spokesman Stefan Paris said at a news conference on Friday, April 18.

At the weekend Jacqui Smith warned that as many as 30 active plots against the UK were now being investigated
Miss Smith said that the new officers work to prevent young people being drawn into extremism.
The threat to Britain was “serious and growing” and, despite a series of successful raids and convictions, we cannot simply “arrest our way out” of the problem, she said.
“We need to prevent people from becoming terrorists and supporting terrorists in the first place,” she said.
Did Palestinian Activist Riad Hamad Commit Suicide?
After police fished the body of Riad Hamad out of Lady Bird Lake in East Austin, Texas, they told the media the non-violent Palestinian activist and directing coordinator of the Palestine Children’s Welfare Fund had committed suicide.
“Right now, the indications are that this was not, there was not foul play involved,” police Sgt. Joseph Chacon told KXAN, never mind Mr. Hamad was found bound with duct tape. “Parkgoers who saw the body said the death did not look accidental. They said the man’s face was wrapped with duct tape, and his arms appeared to be tied in front of his body.” KXAN did not bother to explain how Hamad managed to wrap himself in duct tape.
Neo-Con Calls For Shredding Constitution, Imposing World Government
A recent Austin-American Statesman review of Neo-Con Philip Bobbitt’s new book Terror and Consent features an image of a shredded Constitution under the words “Everything must go,” which acts as a suitable entrée to a disgusting diatribe which praises Bobbitt’s call for the end of America and its replacement with a de facto world government in the name of fighting terror.
Australia warns Olympic torch guards over tough tactics
Chinese guards travelling with the Olympic torch could be arrested if they lay hands on protesters in Canberra, an Australian official said today.
Ted Quinlan, the chairman of the Canberra relay taskforce, issued the warning ahead of the flame’s visit to the Australian capital next week.
Asked whether the so-called torch attendants would have responsibility for security, he told ABC radio: “The answer is no they won’t and, in fact, they could be subject to arrest in fact if they laid a hand on somebody.”
